At The Grounds Guys of Rapid City, we are looking for an Irrigation Technician who takes pride in maintaining high-performance water systems. This is a role for a hands-on professional who is comfortable troubleshooting electrical and hydraulic components and ensuring our clients' landscapes stay healthy and efficient.

You will work as a key part of our field team, collaborating with the Production Manager and Irrigation Lead to ensure that every repair, startup, and winterization is completed to our high standards of service.

Key Responsibilities

  • System Service: Execute the installation, maintenance, and repair of residential and commercial irrigation systems (startups, mid-season checks, and winterizations).
  • Communication & Coordination: Provide professional, proactive updates to clients regarding their system needs and coordinate with colleagues and vendors to ensure the right parts are on the truck for every job.
  • Advanced Diagnostics: Troubleshoot electrical issues (wiring, valves, controllers) and hydraulic issues (leaks, pressure problems) to provide long-term solutions.
  • Inventory Management: Maintain an organized service vehicle and manage inventory to ensure high productivity.
  • Quality Control: Perform thorough site inspections to ensure every system is operating at peak efficiency before leaving the jobsite.
  • Winter Operations: Support our snow removal operations during the winter months, ensuring year-round stability.

Job Requirements

  • Communication Skills: Excellent ability to interact professionally and confidently with clients, vendors, and colleagues.
  • Irrigation Experience: Proven experience in irrigation maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting.
  • Technology Skills: Proficiency in using mobile apps for scheduling, time tracking, and work order management.
  • Mechanical Aptitude: Ability to use specialized irrigation tools and equipment effectively.
  • Logistics: Clean driving history with experience towing trailers.
  • Certifications: Willingness to obtain a backflow or irrigation license within the first 6 months if not already held.
