At The Grounds Guys of Rapid City, our maintenance crews are the face of our company. We are seeking a Team Lead – Grounds Maintenance to take ownership of our residential and commercial routes. This isn't just a mowing job; it’s a leadership role for a professional who takes pride in "stripes," precision trimming, and proactive property care.

You will lead a small crew (usually yourself and an Apprentice) to deliver exceptional results. You are responsible for the quality of the work, the safety of the team, and the satisfaction of the client.

Key Responsibilities

• Route Leadership: Lead a grounds maintenance crew through daily routes, ensuring all properties are serviced to the "Grounds Guys" standard.
• Property Stewardship: Oversee mowing, edging, trimming, weed control, and general debris removal. You are responsible for identifying and reporting turf health issues or enhancement opportunities.
• Professional Communication: Maintain proactive communication with Clients to ensure satisfaction and coordinate with the Production Manager to report progress or job-site challenges.
• Equipment Care: Operate and maintain professional-grade maintenance equipment (zero-turns, trimmers, blowers). You ensure your crew treats the gear with respect.
• Training & Safety: Serve as a mentor to Apprentices, ensuring they work safely and learn the proper techniques for efficiency and quality.
• Snow Operations: Transition into a leadership role during winter snow removal, ensuring our clients' properties remain safe and clear.

• Efficiency & Pacing: Completing routes within the budgeted man-hours while maintaining high quality.
• Excellence in Communication: Keeping a seamless flow of information between the field, the office, and the client.
• Property Aesthetics: Ensuring every property looks "Neighborly Done Right" before the trailer is loaded.
• Equipment Longevity: Zero "avoidable" damage to equipment through proper use and daily maintenance.

Job Requirements

• Communication Skills: Excellent ability to interact professionally with clients and lead a team member effectively.
• Experience: Proven experience in professional grounds maintenance or lawn care, with a track record of leading a small crew.
• Technical Skill: Proficiency in operating commercial-grade mowing and maintenance equipment.
• Technology: Comfortable using mobile apps for routing, time tracking, and job notes.
• Logistics: Clean driving history with experience towing and backing up trailers.
