Lawn Maintenance Team Member

Position Summary
The Lawn Maintenance Team Member is responsible for providing high-quality lawn care and landscape maintenance services for residential and commercial properties. This position works as part of a team to maintain turf, shrubs, landscape beds, and outdoor areas while delivering exceptional customer service and representing the company in a professional manner.
This position is designed for individuals who want to grow within the company. Team members who demonstrate reliability, leadership, quality workmanship, and a positive attitude may have opportunities to advance into Crew Leader and management positions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Lawn Maintenance
- Mow lawns according to company standards.
- String trim around buildings, fences, trees, signs, and landscape beds.
- Edge sidewalks, driveways, and curbs.
- Blow off all sidewalks, driveways, patios, parking lots, and other hard surfaces.
- Remove weeds from landscape beds when required.
- Assist with shrub trimming and pruning.
- Assist with seasonal cleanup services.
- Pick up trash and debris from properties before and after service.
Equipment Operation
- Safely operate:
- Commercial zero-turn mowers
- Push mowers
- String trimmers
- Edgers
- Backpack blowers
- Hedge trimmers
- Chainsaws (when authorized)
- Perform daily equipment inspections.
- Report damaged or malfunctioning equipment immediately.
- Clean equipment and vehicles at the end of each workday.
Property Care & Quality Control
- Follow company quality standards on every property.
- Maintain clean, professional appearances at all job sites.
- Watch for irrigation leaks, drainage issues, turf disease, pest activity, or property damage and report findings.
- Ensure gates are closed and secured before leaving properties.
- Take pride in producing quality work efficiently.
Safety Responsibilities
- Follow all company safety procedures.
- Wear required PPE:
- Safety glasses
- Hearing protection
- Gloves
- High-visibility apparel when required
- Practice safe lifting techniques.
- Report accidents, injuries, and unsafe conditions immediately.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
Customer Service
- Be courteous and respectful to customers.
- Represent the company professionally at all times.
- Notify Crew Leader of customer questions or concerns.
- Maintain a positive attitude while working on customer properties.
Daily Expectations
Morning
- Arrive on time and ready to work.
- Participate in daily crew meeting.
- Inspect equipment and vehicles.
- Load materials and supplies as needed.
- Leave shop on schedule.
Throughout the Day
- Follow directions from Crew Leader.
- Work efficiently without sacrificing quality.
- Maintain a positive attitude and strong work ethic.
- Help teammates complete scheduled work.
- Treat customer property with care and respect.
End of Day
- Clean equipment.
- Refuel equipment when needed.
- Report damaged equipment.
- Assist with unloading and securing equipment.
- Help prepare for the next workday.
Qualifications
Required
- Valid driver's license preferred.
- Reliable transportation to and from work.
- Ability to work outdoors in heat, cold, rain, and varying weather conditions.
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds repeatedly.
- Ability to walk, bend, kneel, squat, and stand for extended periods.
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
- Dependable attendance.
Preferred
- Previous landscaping or lawn maintenance experience.
- Experience operating commercial lawn equipment.
- Experience pulling trailers.
- Experience working on crews.
