Here is a rewritten job description tailored for a CDL Class B Dump Truck Driver & Landscape Professional.

Job Description: CDL Class B Driver & Landscape Professional

Location: St. Augustine / Hastings, FL

Status: Full-Time

Compensation: Competitive Hourly (Consistent rate for both driving and field labor)

Position Overview

We are seeking a versatile CDL Class B Driver who is looking for more than just a seat in a cab. In this role, you will be responsible for the safe operation of our dump trucks, transporting materials like mulch, soil, and debris to and from job sites. However, when the truck is parked, you are a vital part of our landscape production team, working alongside the crew to install high-end designs and maintain beautiful properties.

Key Responsibilities

1. Driving & Equipment Operation

  • Safe Transport: Operate a Class B dump truck to deliver materials and equipment to residential and commercial job sites across St. Johns County.
  • DOT Compliance: Maintain a clean log (if required), perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections, and ensure the vehicle is always in safe, operable condition.
  • Load Management: Secure all loads properly (tarping, weight distribution) and navigate tight residential streets and construction sites with precision.
  • Maintenance: Perform basic upkeep of the truck, including washing, greasing, and reporting mechanical issues immediately.

2. Landscape & Lawn Production (Field Labor)

  • Active Teamwork: When not driving, you will work as a Landscape Professional. This includes mowing, edging, planting trees/shrubs, spreading mulch, and installing sod.
  • Tool Mastery: Safely operate commercial-grade equipment such as zero-turn mowers, trimmers, blowers, and chainsaws.
  • Site Cleanup: Ensure that every job site is left in pristine condition, removing debris and organizing tools at the end of the day.
  • Hand-On Support: Assist with the installation of hardscapes or irrigation systems as needed.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • License: Must possess a valid Florida Class B CDL with a clean driving record (MVR).
  • Medical: Must have a current DOT Medical Card (processed through the 2026 NRII electronic system).
  • Physical Stamina: Ability to lift 50+ lbs repeatedly and work 8–10 hours a day in the Florida heat/humidity.
  • Reliability: You are the "anchor" for the crew. If the truck doesn't move, the job doesn't start. Punctuality is non-negotiable.
  • Experience: 1–2 years of experience driving a dump truck is preferred; landscaping experience is a major plus but we will train the right attitude.

Why This Job is Different

Unlike many driving jobs that pay "windshield time" differently than "labor time," we pay one consistent, high-tier rate for your entire shift. Whether you are behind the wheel or holding a shovel, your value to the company remains the same.

Basic Needs for Success

  • Adaptability: You should be comfortable switching gears (literally) from a driver mindset to a laborer mindset several times a day.
  • Safety First: You are responsible for a multi-ton vehicle. We need someone who treats safety as a core value, not a checkbox.
  • Mechanical Sympathy: An understanding of how the truck and landscape equipment work so you can spot potential failures before they happen.
